The public park area is adjacent to the main road and protected by rich landscaping. ‘Green’ public parking is to the east of the garden restaurant which acts as a marker for the site’s main entrance. This element comprises a park manager’s flat, a shop and a seating area with a large south-west facing terrace. A public path meanders through the park and provides access to the rope centre, the zoo, the pony riding area and the lake with cascades.
The private equestrian centre is also accessed from the main entrance point, the land rising towards the south-west. This section is gated, providing access for members, handicapped and invited parties only. The centre’s impressive entrance is defined by a lake and the buildings beyond. The precise arrangement of buildings was the result of analytical and functional investigation and responds to the requirements of the horses in particular whilst maximising the user’s requirements.
An outdoor eventing arena is located at the centre of the complex, adjacent to stabling and other equine facilities. Public access to the viewing stand is from the public garden restaurant along a tree-lined path to the south of the main equestrian buildings.
